22-year-old South Africa youngster Marco Jansen has been named the ICC men's emerging player of the year for 2022. Jansen, the towering 6ft 10in bowler made a sensational entry to international cricket in the longest format of the game, and since then has impressed in every format. Starting predominantly as a bowler, Jansen has shown the ability to become a handy batter in any format of the game, off late in franchise cricket.

Blessed with brisk pace and the ability to swing the ball, Jansen bagged 36 wickets in 2022 in Tests alongside 234 runs. The all-rounder pipped India's latest T20I specialist Arshdeep Singh, Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran and New Zealand's Finn Allen for the award.

Jansen, who plays for SunRisers Hyderabad in

the Indian Premier League is expected to become the next bowling sensation in an already power-packed SA bowling attack.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene had called Jansen a complete package back in 2022 praising the bowler for his intelligence and his will to learn new things.

“He has got a good head as well, likes to learn things. He is a complete package as well, he can bat. He is a great asset for South Africa to have – a young cricketer coming through to add to a good fast bowling unit that they have with Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje,” Jayawardene had told the ICC review.

Jansen off late has been doing well in the first edition of the SA20 league and has done well with both bat and ball.
