Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik scripted history on Saturday, January 20 by becoming only the second batter in the history of T20 cricket to complete 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. Shoaib Malik achieved the feat when he turned up for Fortune Barishal against Rangpur Riders in the 3rd match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 in Dhaka.

Shoaib Malik hit 17 off 18 balls and remained unbeaten as he was there when Fortune Barishal successfully chased down a target of 135 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. Malik hit two boundaries and stitched a 25-run partnership with Mahmudullah to steer the team to victory on Saturday.

Shoaib Malik also chipped in with a wicket in the only over he bowled. He dismissed well-set Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan, who was batting on 23.

Shoaib Malik needed 7 runs to get to the milestone before his first game in the Bangladesh Premier League. Shoaib Malik last played for Sialkot in Pakistan's National T20 Cup in December 2023. After returning from the break, Shoaib Malik completed the major milestone of his career.

Despite being the leading run-getter in T20 cricket in Asia, Shoaib Malik is yet to hit a T20 hundred. The 41-year-old all-rounder has retired from Tests and ODI cricket, but he has continued to play the shortest format of the game, keeping himself available for selection.

Shoaib Malik has scored 2435 runs in 124 T20Is at an average of 30 for Pakistan. Shoaib, who was part of the T20 World Cup triumph in 2009, has not played for Pakistan since November 20, 2021.

Notably, on Saturday morning, Shoaib Malik shocked his fans by announcing his marriage to actor Sana Javed even as speculation about his separation with Sania Mirza has been doing the rounds.
