India continued their dominant run in the Vizag leg of the series, securing a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka Women in the second T20I at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Tuesday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

A disciplined bowling effort followed by a blazing chase, led by Shafali Verma, ensured the hosts wrapped up the contest with 49 balls to spare. Harmanpreet Kaur also equalled Meg Lanning’s record for most T20I wins as captain (76).

Asked to bat first, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum and finished with a modest 128 for 9 from their 20 overs. Chamari Athapaththu was the lone batter to show real intent at the top, scoring 31 off 24 balls with three

fours and two sixes.

However, once she was dismissed by Sneh Rana in the sixth over, the innings lost direction. Rana, who came into the XI in place of the unwell Deepti Sharma, bowled with control and accuracy, returning figures of 4-1-11-1 to stifle the Sri Lankan middle order.

Brief Scores
Sri Lanka Women: 128/9 in 20 overs. Harshitha Samarawickrama (33), Chamari Athapaththu (31); Shree Charani (2/23), Vaishnavi Sharma (2/32)

India Women: 129/3 in 11.5 overs. Shafali Verma (69*), Jemimah Rodrigues (26); Kavisha Dilhari (1/15), Kawya Kavindi (1/32)

Result: India Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 7 wickets
