Sanju Samson has been named the ICC Player of the Month after his match-winning heroics in the T20 World Cup 2026. The India batter beat his teammate and pace ace Jasprit Bumrah amongst the contenders to clinch the award following his standout performances in the tournament.
Samson’s award comes on the back of India’s title-winning campaign. Speaking after receiving the honour, he reflected on what has been a defining phase of his career.
“Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during what has been the most
unforgettable phase of my cricketing journey. Playing a part in India’s triumph at the Men’s T20 World Cup was truly a dream realised,” Samson said.
“It took some time for the magnitude of that moment to fully sink in. This is an exciting era for Indian cricket, with immense talent across the board. I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve received, and for the trust and support from my team-mates and coaching staff,” he added.
Alongside Samson, New Zealand all-rounder Melie Kerr won the women’s award for her consistent performances across formats.
