Indian Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma added another feather to his cap as he became the first batsman in history to hit 100 sixes combined across formats against Australia in the ongoing Sydney Test.

Rohit stepped out to hit Nathan Lyon for a six in the 16th over of the match, hence becoming the first to reach the milestone. Although, Rohit is not the first cricketer to have hit 100 sixes combined across all formats against one single opponent.

Rohit has now slammed 424 sixes in international cricket and is third on the list of the most-six hit by any batsman. Chris Gayle has hit close to 140 sixes against England combined across all formats.

Rohit Sharma scored just 26 runs during his 77-ball stay at the crease before his dismissal ended India’s 70-run opening stand.

Hazlewood celebrated his 30th birthday by ending Rohit Sharma's first innings of the series caught and bowled for 26 before Pat Cummins had Shubman Gill caught at gully just after the young opener had reached his maiden half-century.

At stumps, captain Ajinkya Rahane was unbeaten on five with Cheteshwar Pujara on nine, trailing Australia by 242 runs with eight first-innings wickets remaining.

Rohit, who led Mumbai Indians to their fifth IPL title victory, is playing his 1st competitive match since November 10. Rohit was named in the Test squad but did not fly to Australia from UAE as he had to return home due to personal reasons. Later, the BCCI asked him to clear a fitness test. Rohit underwent the test at the National Cricket Academy on December 11 and flew to Australia in the next couple of days.
