Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) has come out in support of the flood victims in Punjab by donating Rs 33.8 lakh in relief funds. The state is currently facing its worst floods in decades. According to a state government bulletin, the deluge has claimed 37 lives and affected over 3.5 lakh people.

While initially 12 districts bore the brunt of the disaster, all 23 districts in the state have now been declared flood-affected. In such tragic times, Punjab Kings have come forward to provide relief by partnering with Hemkunt Foundation and Round Table India as part of their 'Together for Punjab' campaign.

PBKS have donated Rs 33.8 lakhs and the funds will help in providing inflatable rescue boats for the evacuation of stranded families, medical emergencies and delivery of essential relief supplies along with clean drinking water to support flood-affected individuals in the State. The boats will also continue to be used as

disaster-response assets in Punjab for future emergencies.

Apart from them, they’re also launching a fundraising campaign on Ketto with an aim of raising INR 2 Crore. The funds collected will be donated to the The Global Sikh charity, who will use the aid to further assist the efforts for rebuilding Punjab. Earlier, Shubman Gill took to social media to express his grief over the devastation caused by the Punjab floods.

More than 1,000 villages have been inundated, and approximately 61,000 hectares of farmland submerged, displacing about 1.46 million residents. The floods, driven by swollen Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers, were triggered by intense rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, along with dam releases upstream.

Rescue operations are underway: over 11,000 people have already been evacuated to safer areas, with the assistance of the Army, NDRF, BSF, and local authorities. Relief camps and rehabilitation plans are being rolled out.
