Multan Sultans bowlers bowled exceptionally well after impressive performances by batters Rilee Rossouw and Mohammed Rizwan, bowling out Multan Sultans for 154 runs and winning the match by 56 runs. Multan Sultans now have 2 wins in 3 matches while Peshawar Zalmi now have 1 win and 1 loss in their 2 matches in PSL 8.

Chasing a massive 211 runs to win, Zalmi got off to a good start as openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam etched a partnership of 41 runs in 4 overs. However, Babar managed just 9 runs off 8 balls as Ishanullah got rid of the ace batter. Haris went on to smack 40 runs off 23 balls with a four & 4 sixes. 

Left-hander Saim Ayub also showed promising talent as he smashed 53 runs off 37 balls at #3, smacking 3 fours & 3 sixes and was the highest scorer for his team. However, the rest of the batting order failed to step up. Rovman Powell scored 23 runs while James Neesham managed 12 runs as none of the other middle and lower-order batters managed to breach the double-digit mark. 

For Multan Sultans, pacer Ihsanullah and Usama Mir were the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets each in 3.5 and 4 overs respectively, giving away 24 and 22 runs. Abbas Afridi grabbed 2 wickets while Carlos Brathwaite managed 1 wicket as Peshawar were bowled out for 154 rus in 18.5



overs. 

In the first innings, Rilee Rossouw smacked a thunderous fifty while Mohammad Rizwan scored a sturdy fifty as Multan Sultans posted a massive 210/3 against Peshawar Zalmi in the 5th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. Rossouw scored 75 runs while Rizwan managed 66 runs. 

Multan got off to a good start after openers Shan Masood and Rizwan added 54 runs for the first wicket in 7.2 overs. Salman Irshad got the first wicket, in the 8th over as Masood departed after a slow knock of 20 runs in 25 balls.

Rizwan was joined by Rilee Rossouw in the middle as the duo added 62 runs for the 3rd wicket in 35 balls. After Rizwan was dismissed on 66 runs in 42 balls, Rossouw continued smacking on the other end. Rossouw etched a partnership of 75 runs in 35 balls with David Miller for 4th wicket, where the former contributed with 51 runs in just 23 balls. 

Rossouw scored 75 runs in just 36 balls with 12 fours & 2 sixes. For Peshawar Zalmi, Salman Irshad picked up 2 wickets while Sufiyan Muqeem managed 1 wicket. 

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss & opted to bowl first against Multan Sultans in the 5th match of Pakistan Super League 2023. This match is being played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan.
