The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to impose a massive financial penalty on the national team following their disappointing exit from the 2026 T20 World Cup. According to a report from The Express Tribune, each member of the squad is set to be fined PKR 5 million (Rs 16 lakh) for failing to meet performance expectations.

The decision, reportedly spearheaded by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, marks a significant shift in how the board handles international failures. Sources within the board indicate that the top brass has run out of patience following a string of underwhelming performances in major ICC

events. The board's logic is simple yet firm: if players are entitled to substantial financial rewards and bonuses for victories, they must also face fiscal consequences for failing to achieve basic tournament objectives.

Reports suggest that the decision to penalise the team was tentatively finalised as early as the group stage, immediately following Pakistan's high-profile and demoralising defeat to India. Naqvi, who was present at the stadium during that match, was reportedly highly displeased by the team's inability to handle pressure and the tactical lapses that led to the loss in Colombo.
