Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly revealed that he intends to formally notify the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the provocative behaviour of the Indian players during the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 final.
In the match held in Dubai on Sunday, December 21, Pakistan went on to take the win by a whopping 191 runs, with opener Sameer Minhas scoring a record 175 to drive them to a first-innings total of 347/8.
The Indian batters failed to turn up with Ali Raza running rampant with the ball as he finished with figures of 4/42 as India were eventually bundled out for a mere 156 runs.
During the game, there were many heated tussles with both sides engaging in verbal exchanges.
"Indian players kept provoking Pakistani players during the Under-19 Asia Cup
final," Naqvi said as reported by PTI at a reception hosted by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
"Pakistan will formally inform the ICC about the incident. Politics and sports should always be kept separate," he added.
Ali Raza and the Indian captain, Ayush Mhatre, had a brief exchange after the latter was dismissed early on. He then had a similar situation involving Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who snapped back while returning to the pavilion.
Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was also the U19 team's mentor-cum-manager, has revealed that he was disappointed at the conduct by the Indian side.
"I have played against many Indian teams, and they used to take cricket as cricket. But this junior team's behaviour was improper throughout the final," said Sarfaraz.
