Pakistan’s struggles in international cricket continued as they lost the three-match ODI series to Bangladesh. After their Super 8 exit in the T20 World Cup, Pakistan fell short in the series decider, losing by 11 runs on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, handing Bangladesh a 2-1 series victory.

Pakistan had returned to playing ODIs in Bangladesh after 11 years, having last played a series in 2015, which they lost 0-3. They suffered a heavy defeat in the first ODI, recovered in the second with a win, but couldn’t clinch the decider. Bangladesh, meanwhile, celebrated a morale-boosting series victory after missing out on the T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh posted a competitive 290 for 5 in their 50 overs after being asked to bat first. Tanzid Hasan starred with his maiden ODI century, scoring 107 off 107 balls, including six fours and seven sixes, reaching the milestone with a massive six off Salman Agha.

Litton Das contributed 41, Najmul Hossain Shanto added 27, and Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten on 48, while Saif Hassan scored 36 before falling to Shaheen Shah Afridi. Extras, including 15 wides, further boosted the total. Haris

Rauf took 3 wickets for Pakistan, with Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Afridi claiming one each.

Chasing 291, Pakistan struggled early, losing Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat for 6 each, and Mohammad Rizwan for 4. Salman Agha fought valiantly with 106 off 98 balls, supported by Saad Masood’s 38, Shaheen Afridi’s 37, and Abdul Samad’s 34, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to build meaningful partnerships. Pakistan were bowled out for 279, falling 11 runs short.

With 14 runs needed off the final over, Rishad Hossain dismissed Shaheen Afridi to seal the match and the series. Taskin Ahmed was Bangladesh’s standout bowler with 4 wickets for 49 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman picked up 3 and Nahid Rana 2. Rishad Hossain’s crucial strike ensured a memorable series-clinching victory for Bangladesh.
