Mark Chapman played a stupendous knock as New Zealand drew level in the 5-match series after beating Pakistan by 7 wickets on Sunday in Rawalpindi. Chapman won the Player of the Match award after he hammered an unbeaten 87 off 42 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes. The hosts had a chance to take an unassailable series, but Chapman did not allow them to do so.

Chasing a stiff target of 179, the Black Caps got off to a brisk start as Tim Robinson and Tim Seifert put on 42 runs for the opening

wicket off 4.5 overs. Abbas Afridi, who replaced Mohammad Amir, removed Seifert, who laid the platform in the run-chase with a quick-fire knock of 21 off 16 balls.

Abbas was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with figures of 3-0-27-2, but did not get much support. Dean Foxcroft also made 31 useful runs, but it was Chapman who did the heavy-lifting and helped the Kiwis chase down the target with 10 balls to spare. The pace bowling pair of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem leaked runs at an economy rate of above 10.
