Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to trade out-of-favour India pacer Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). SRH had acquired the services of the 35-year-old pacer for Rs 10 crore at the mega auction last year. However, Shami failed to live up to his reputation throughout the season.

Shami featured in nine matches for SRH, taking only six wickets while conceding at an economy of 11.23. He also registered the most expensive bowling figures by an Indian in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), leaking a whopping 75 runs from his four overs, during Match 27 in Hyderabad. Shami's figures were also the second-most expensive bowling figures in IPL history after Jofra Archer’s figures of 0/76 against SRH in the same season.

Following a forgettable season, he's set to be traded to LSG for the upcoming season.

The deadline to submit the list of players the franchises want to release from their squad is November 15.

"Both franchise have agreed to the trade," a source in the know of things told PTI.

Once India's pace spearhead, Shami has also been unable to make the national team due to fitness concerns. He last played for the 'Men in Blue' in the final of the Champions Trophy in March this year.

Meanwhile, Shami skipped the fourth round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy, but he was impressive for Bengal in the first three matches, bowling 93 overs and claiming 15 wickets at an average of 15.13 with best figures of 5/38. He last played Test cricket in 2023, during the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023 against Australia. The speedster looks out of contention for the Test team with selectors grooming a new crop of fast bowlers.
