Sharjah: In IPL Cricket, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by a massive 86 run margin in Sharjah last night. Put into bat, Kolkata posted 171 for four in the stipulated 20 overs. Shubman Gill hit a fifty making 56 off 44 balls along with Venkatesh Iyer scoring 38 off 35 balls, gave Kolkata a good start.

In reply, chasing a target of 172 runs, Rajasthan Royals were bundled out for 85 runs in 16.1 overs. Rahul Tewatia was the top scorer for the team with 44 runs.

With the win, Kolkata has take a huge step towards securing its position for the fourth and final play-off spot in the tournament after finishing their round-robin engagements with 14 points from 14 games.

The top



three play-off spots have already been sealed by Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Royals Challengers Bangalore.

Earlier, in the day, Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets at Dubai International Stadium.

Today, Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians at Abu Dhabi while Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Delhi Capitals in Dubai. Both matches will begin at 07.30 PM.

With 12 points from 13 matches, Mumbai Indians is the only team still in the play-off race but they will need to register a big win over Sunrisers Hyderabad to dislodge Kolkata Knight Riders from the fourth spot.
