Rohit Sharma isn’t available for the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Friday, April 4 against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Skipper Hardik Pandya confirmed at the toss that the 37-year-old was injured after being hit on the knee during a nets session.
Hardik also said that ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah “should be back soon”. Bumrah is currently recovering from a back injury that he sustained earlier this year in the New Year’s Test against the Aussies at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Bumrah also missed out on playing in the Champions Trophy after being replaced
by Harshit Rana in the squad.
Adding more on the upcoming clash, Hardik said, "MI don't want to talk about the pitch and just want to 'play good cricket'. It is tempting to watch other teams and play in a certain way, but it is important to play sensibly."
Meanwhile, for the Super Giants, fast bowler Akash Deep has returned and has replaced M Siddharth in the playing XI. In the pre-match press conference, the Bengal pacer confirmed that he was up and running after being sidelined before due to a back injury. Deep hasn’t played a single competitive game since the Boxing Day Test against Australia last year in December at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
