IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans beat Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets

Gujarat Titans stormed into the Indian Premier League 2025 playoffs after beating Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets on Sunday, May 18. Playing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Sai Sudharsan's incredible 108* trumped KL Rahul's gritty hundred as Gujarat once again let it known that they were one of the favourites to win the title this season.

Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, two of the top run getters this season, put together a partnership of 205 runs, and finished off the match with surgical precision on Sunday. The duo finished the game off with 6 balls remaining, dominating majority of the bowlers on the day. The win meant that Gujarat became the first team to qualify for the playoffs this season, and also sealed playoffs places for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.

While Sudharsan scored a calculated hundred, Gujarat captain Shubman Gill played a perfect second act, hitting 93* off 53 balls. The duo did not take much risk in their innings and chose their match-ups to perfection. Sudharsan started by scoring runs against Axar Patel, who bowled himseld in the



powerplay.

Shubman on the other hand, took control over the pacers early in the innings which essentially helped both the batters settle down in their rhythm. After both of them got their eye in, all DC bowlers were fair game, and duo ripped into the likes of T Natarajan (3-0-49-0) and Dushmantha Chameera (2-0-22-0), who did not have a good time today.

The win was once again a salute to the game plan that Ashish Nehra has devised for GT this season, where the top 3 batters take matter into their own hands and try to seal every single match this season. This comes in sharp contrast to other teams, who have tried to go gung-ho from the start of the innings to let their tall batting order come into play.

Speaking after the game, DC captain Axar Patel rued the lack of wickets and said that a breakthrough could have changed the game. Axar further added that the wicket got better and better to bat on, which essentially resulted in their defeat.
