Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop wants the Board of Cricket Control in India to straightaway hand Mayank Yadav a fast bowlers' contract. 21-year-old Mayank Yadav has been a revelation in the Indian Premier League's 2024 season, clocking back to back player of the match performances against Punjab and Bengaluru. But above all, what has impressed the most is Mayank's pace, where he has consistently bowled above 150 KMPH in the last two games.

The LSG pacer had been brought by Lucknow back in 2020 for just Rs 20 lakh in the IPL auction but had not played due to injuries. Yadav, when he played his first match in the IPL, turned out to be one of the fastest bowlers

India has ever produced. The pacer bowled the fastest ball of the IPL 2024 in the first game itself vs PBKS, clocking upwards of 155Ks, in the second match vs RCB, he did one better, bowling the fourth fastest delivery in IPL history - at 156.7 KMKPH.

"Nothing else needs to be seen to add a sixth name to the fast bowling contracts list," Ian Bishop tweeted after the game.

Earlier, the former West Indies fast-bowler had heaped praise on the BCCI contracts for pacers, saying he’s a big fan of the move. The BCCI announced the annual retainership contracts for the senior men's team for the 2023/24 season, with special contracts for select fast-bowlers.
