Lucknow Super Giants on Friday, May 5 announced that Karun Nair would be replacing KL Rahul for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. Rahul was ruled out of the rest of the season due to thigh injury he picked. In fact, Rahul will be out of action for a considerable period of time, having to undergo surgery.

Karun Nair, who went unsold at the IPL 2023 auction, will join the team ahead of Lucknow's next match against defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday in Ahmedabad.

Karun, who replaces Rahul at LSG,



has so far played 76 IPL games and has 1496 runs against his name. Karun Nair, who played for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, had a lean patch in IPL, managing just 37 runs in the last 4 years in IPL having missed the 2021 season.

Lucknow Super Giants were led by Krunal Pandya in the absence of KL Rahul in their washed-out game against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. KL Rahul was part of the dug-out but he took to social media on Friday to confirm that he would miss the rest of the IPL 2023 season and the World Test Championships final.
