Delhi Capitals ended their 2-match losing streak after clinching a dominant 44-run win over IPL 2022 table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Delhi posted a mammoth total of 215 after Shreyas Iyer sent them in to bat before coming up with an all-round bowling effort to dismiss KKR for 171.

Delhi Capitals, who opened their campaign with a win over Mumbai Indians, went off the radar with back-to-back defeats but Rishabh Pant's men stormed back to winning ways with a dominant show against KKR in Mumbai.

The Capitals rode on the fifties from Prithvi Shaw and David Warner and a fantastic bowling effort from Kuldeep Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed to stop the Knight Riders' charge in IPL 2022.

Kuldeep Yadav finished with figures of 4/35, including 3 wickets in an over, as he plotted the downfall of his former franchise KKR wherein his career went downhill.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals came up with an improved batting effort with the new-look opening pair of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw taking the Kolkata new ball bowlers to the cleaners. On a good batting pitch, strike bowler Umesh Yadav, who is the holder of the Purple Cap, could not work his magic in the powerplay as Prithvi and Warner came out all guns blazing.

Delhi Capitals collected 68 run in the powerplay, taking the attack to Umesh, Rasikh Salam, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine in the first 6

overs.

Prithvi was going all guns blazing in the powerplay, continuing from where he left in their previous game against Lucknow Super Giants as he hit 2 sixes and 7 boundaries for his 29-ball 51. Shaw kept it simple and enjoyed the company of Warner, who announced his arrival at Delhi after a horror season with SunRisers Hyderabad wherein he was stopped of captaincy and dropped from the side.

Warner launched into the KKR bowling attack after losing Prithvi following a 93-run opening stand that came in just 52 balls. The Australia opener got to his first fifty on return to the Capitals and made 51 from jus t4 balls.

Delhi looked set to post a 220-plus total when Warner and captain Rishabh Pant were going full steam after Shaw's exit. However, Pant fell for a 14-ball 27 with Andre Russell getting the dangerous Delhi captain.

The wicket helped KKR fight back as Delhi lost Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell in quick succession to Sunil Narine who proved why he is one of the best in the business. The West Indies spinner finished with figures of 2/21 when the other KKR bowlers were taken to the cleaners.

WIth Umesh getting Warner in the 17th over, DC had slipped to 166/5 and were in danger of finishing under 200. However, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur made sure the Capitals collected 48 runs in the last 3 overs.

Shardul hit 29 in just 11 balls, smashing 3 sixes and the runs from the explosive India all-rounder's bat proved to be a big boost for Delhi.
