Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Tuesday as they beat Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets in Match 13 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Chasing a below-par 138 for victory, Delhi rode on Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith's calculated knocks to reach the target in 19.1 overs at the Chepauk, where they hadn't won a match since IPL 2010.

DC's third win this season helped them move up to second position on the IPL 2021 points table. This was also Delhi's first win over Mumbai since March, 2019, as they had lost all 4 games against the eventual champions in IPL 2020, including the final in

Dubai.

Dhawan, who has been in the form of his life in this year's IPL, once again top-scored for his side with 45 runs off 42 balls while Smith also returned among the runs, scoring 33 off 29 balls. Dhawan (231 runs) also consolidated his position at the top of the Orange Cap list and became the first batsman to breach the 200-run mark this season.

The duo shared a 53-run partnership for the second wicket which laid a solid foundation for the run chase. MI though, fought their way back in the match thanks to some tight bowling in the middle overs but Lalit Yadav (22 not out) and Shimron Hetmyer (14 not out) held their nerves to take the team over the line with their unbroken 23-run stand.
