All-round Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed to stay alive in the Indian Premier League 2020 with a 8-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals in Dubai, also managing their first successful run chase this season on Thursday.

SRH rode on a splendid 58 off 34 from Manish Pandey to overhaul the target of 155 in xx.x overs to grab a crucial 2 points.

SRH were in big trouble in the powerplay overs thanks to a fiery spell from Jofra Archer, who sent back openers David Warner (4) and Jonny Bairstow (10) inside the first 3 overs.

But then Pandey joined hands with all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who was promoted to No. 4, to stitch a 140-run unbeaten partnership for the 3rd wicket which proved to be match winning in the end.

Pandey scored 83 not out off 47 balls with 4 boundaries and 8 sixes while Shankar hit 52 not out off 51 balls to be the perfect foil for his partner.

The win helped SRH climb to 5th on the points table with 8 points from 10 games which keep them alive in the race for the playoffs. RR's loss

makes it very difficult for them to reach the last four now as they are also level on 8 points with SRH, but have played an extra game than them.

Earlier, SRH produced a splendid bowling performance to restrict Rajasthan Royals to 154 for 7 in 20 overs which is the lowest score managed by a team batting first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the tournament this season.

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, who was roped in as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Marsh, bagged 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs and affected the run out of Robin Uthappa in his first match for SRH this season.

Rashid Khan was economical and effective as usual, he bagged a wicket for 18 runs from 4 overs while all-rounder Vijay Shankar also managed a wicket for 15 runs from his 3 overs.

The Royals' innings never got going despite the likes of Sanju Samson (36), Ben Stokes (30) and Riyan Parag (20) getting starts as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals after winning the toss and electing to bat first on a slow pitch.
