India beat West Indies by six wickets in the first match of three-match T-20 series against West Indies played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday.

Chasing a total of 207 runs, India made 209 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.4 overs. Skipper Virat Kohli scored 94 while K L Rahul amassed 62 runs. Virat Kohli was adjudged player of the match for his unbeaten knock.

Indian opener KL Rahul completed his 1,000 runs in the T-20 International and became the seventh Indian batsman to do so.
For West Indies,



Khary Pierre took 2 wickets. Earlier put into bat, the West Indies scored 207 runs in the stipulated 20 overs losing five wickets. Shimron Hetmyer top-scored for the team with 56 runs while Evin Lewis made 40. The West Indian batsmen cracked record 15 sixes in the match. For India, Yajuvendra Chahal took two wickets for 36 runs.

India, thus, took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. 

The second T20 International will be played in Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow.
