India players gave Virat Kohli a guard of honour as he walked out to field on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, which is also the former captain's 100th Test. Led by Rohit Sharma, Kohli's teammates formed a parallel line along the boundary rope as they lauded the star batter.

Virat Kohli acknowledged the appreciation from his teammates and raised his hands to thank the crowd that was up on its feet to welcome the legendary batter onto the field. It was a lovely gesture from the India players as Kohli walked up to Rohit to shake his hands before the players took their fielding positions.

Kohli became the 12th Indian cricketer and the 71st overall to play 100 Tests for his country. The

former captain, who quit from the top job earlier in January, got out for 45 in the first innings even as India managed to post 574/8 declared, grinding down the Sri Lanka bowling attack in Mohali.

Kohli looked sharp during his brief stay in the middle before he was undone by a fine delivery from left-arm spinner Lassith Embuldeniya. Kohli was not able to believe his luck as the ball spun sharply from middle and leg and hit the top of off-stump.

Notably, Kohli was felicitated by the team management before the start of the first Test. Head coach Rahul Dravid presented Kohli with a special India cap and urged him to "double it up". Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma also joined the cricketer at the felicitation ceremony.
