Rain spoiled India's party in the second ODI in Hamilton as the New Zealand side keep their 1-0 lead intact in the three-match ODI series. The Indian team was asked to bat first on a day that was expected to be interrupted by rain. The match was interrupted in the fifth over as the Indian openers made their way back to the pavilion. Rain played its game and even after the play got resumed after 3 and half hours, it was called off with only a few overs bowled. The Indian team will now head to Christchurch in hope of some action.

The Indian team will now travel to Christchurch for the 3rd ODI. Shikhar Dhawan and co. are 0-1 down in the three-match series and will have to outplay the Kiwi side if they have to avoid a series loss. Notably, the Indian team are also looking to avoid Dhawan's record to go down in the series. Under Shikhar



Dhawan, the Indian team has never lost an ODI series. The Southpaw has captained the Men in Blue in three ODI series and the Indian team have won them all. Dhawan has led India to ODI series wins against Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa. 

Notably, the Indian team displayed a good show in the second ODI. In the only 12.5 overs bowled, the Men in Blue scored 89/1. Even though Dhawan got out early, Gill and Suryakumar produced a decent performance with the willow. Rain first interrupted in the fifth over, when India was 22/0 after 4.5 overs. The play resumed nearly after three and half hours but only to be stopped in the 13th over. At 12.5 India was at 89/1 when the rain came back and the play was called off. Suryakumar scored 34* while Gill amassed 45*. The next match will be played in Hagley Oval, Christchurch on 30th November.
