The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced an 18-member ODI squad for the three-match series against Australia and confirmed that India captain Rohit Sharma will miss the first ODI due to family commitments.

Regular vice-captain Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian side in the series opener, while Rohit will return as India's captain for the last two matches of the series. India will play three ODIs against Australia at Mumbai, Vizag and Chennai.

"Mr. Rohit Sharma will be unavailable for the first ODI due to family commitments and Mr. Hardik Pandya will lead the side in the first ODI," BCCI tweeted.

Jaydev Undakat, who was left out of the squad for the Ranji Trophy, returned for the final two Tests against Australia. The Saurashtra captain has also been returned to the ODI set-up after 9 years. Except for Unadkat's return, the Test teams remain

unchanged.

Despite poor performances in first two Tests, opener and vice-captain KL Rahul has been retained in the Indian Test squad for the final two Tests against Australia in Indore and Ahmedabad next month. As expected, Bumrah has not been named to either of the two squads because management and the board do not want to rush his return.
