In the ICC Cricket World Cup, India have won the toss and opted to bat against Afghanistan in their fifth round-round match at Southampton.

Mohammed Shami has been included in place of injured fellow paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Vijay Shankar is also in the playing eleven.

The weather in Southampton has been forecast to be mostly sunny, which could turn cloudy by night time.

India are currently fourth

in the 10-team points table with seven points, three points behind leaders and defending champions Australia. New Zealand are second and have two points more than the Men in Blue, while hosts England are third with one point more than Team India.

Virat Kohli and Company will not only look to bag two points against bottom-placed Afghanistan today, but eye a big win to improve their net run rate and strengthen their chances of sealing a place in the semi-finals.
