India batter Shafali Verma was felicitated by the Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his official residence, recognising her stellar contribution in team’s Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph. Saini presented Shafali with a shawl, a cheque worth 1.5 crore, and a ‘Grade A’ sports gradation certificate.
According to an official statement, the 21-year-old cricketer has also been appointed brand ambassador of the Haryana State Women’s Commission.The Chief Minister praised Shafali’s hard work and commitment, saying she had brought glory not just to Haryana but to the entire nation. Saini also highlighted the state government’s continued efforts to promote sports, noting that nearly 2,000 sports nurseries have been established across Haryana to nurture young talent at the grassroots level.

government, in honor of this outstanding performance, Shafali has been awarded 1.50 crore in cash and a Grade A grading certificate. This recognition will inspire Haryana's sporting talents to reach even greater heights. With her hard work and dedication, Shefali has not only brought glory to Haryana but to the entire nation. This achievement serves as an inspiration for all the daughters of the state; I wish you continued success in illuminating the country's name with your stellar performances," wrote Saini on his X account.
Shafali Verma expressed her gratitude for being honoured by the State government and praised the constant support provided to athletes of the state.
“We are very happy to have won the World Cup. The spirit of sports runs deep in Haryana, and everyone here supports athletes wholeheartedly," said Shafali.
