Former Pakistan opener Taufeeq Umar has said he tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Taufeeq developed a mild fever and he got himself tested for Covid-19 on Saturday.

Taufeeq Umar said his symptoms were 'not at all severe' and that he has isolated himself at his residence.
"I got myself tested last night after feeling a little sick last night, and the result came positive. My symptoms are not at all severe," Taufeeq told Geo News.

"I have

isolated myself at home," he further said, adding: "I appeal to everyone to pray for my swift recovery."

While several footballers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Taufeeq Umar is the first high-profile cricketer to have tested positive. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought normal lives to a grinding halt across the globe.

Taufeeq, who made his international debut for Pakistan in 2001, played 44 Tests and 22 ODI in a career that spread across 13 years.
