Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in the history books after recording the highest score by an Indian opener in Test matches at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The southpaw reached the landmark on Day 1 of the second Test as India are looking to bounce back from their five-wicket defeat at Headingley in Leeds.
Jaiswal broke the record of Sudhir Naik, who scored 77 runs off 165 balls against Mike Denness’ England back in July 1974. On Wednesday, July 2, the
23-year-old scored 87 runs off 107 balls with the help of 13 fours before England captain Ben Stokes accounted for his wicket in the post-lunch session.
