India has officially placed a high-profile bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad pitched as the central venue. If successful, it will mark India's second time hosting the event after New Delhi in 2010.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA), backed by the Gujarat government and central authorities, is positioning Ahmedabad’s state-of-the-art Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and Narendra Modi Stadium as the focal points of the Games. The plan highlights world-class
infrastructure, strong financial capability, and India’s growing clout in international sports.
The 2030 Games are expected to draw participation from 72 nations and territories, generating large-scale employment, boosting tourism, and creating professional opportunities across various industries, including hospitality, transportation, construction, and sports management. Officials say this event could provide a major economic boost to the region while strengthening India’s soft power on the global stage.
