England Test captain Ben Stokes won’t be a part of the upcoming three-match T20I series against South Africa. On Friday, the ECB named the squads for the ODI and T20Is against the Proteas, and Stokes wasn’t included in the T20I team.

Stokes is currently taking part in the three-match ODI series against Rohit Sharma’s India, where he hasn’t been able to make much of an impact. In two matches, Stokes has scored only 21 runs and bagged a duck in the opening game at the Kennington Oval in London.

Stokes hasn’t bowled a lot either, as he has rolled his arms over for only one over without picking up a wicket. Earlier this month, the all-rounder carried his team to a seven-wicket win over India in the rescheduled fifth Test against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Stokes will also miss the

upcoming edition of the Hundred, which is scheduled to get underway on Wednesday, August 3. It has been learned that the decision to rest Stokes was taken to manage his fitness and workload.

Stokes, however, will take part in the three-match ODI series against the Proteas to be played from Tuesday, June 19.
