The International Cricket Council (ICC) has described Bangladesh's absence from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 as "regrettable" but confirmed that no financial, sporting or administrative penalty will be imposed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, there's still no official update on Pakistan's match against India on February 15 in Colombo.
The announcement followed what the ICC termed an "open, constructive and congenial" dialogue involving the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB), and the BCB. The discussions covered multiple matters, including the recently concluded T20 World Cup and the broader outlook for cricket in South Asia.
Earlier, Bangladesh had pulled out of the World Cup after their government remained firm on the team not travelling to India due to security concerns. Scotland subsequently replaced Bangladesh in the tournament, while the BCB launched a new league, the Odommo T20 Cup, to keep their players engaged while missing the World Cup.
