Centurion: Bangladesh scored their first victory over South Africa on their home turf in the first ODI match played at Super Sports Park, Centurion on Friday. The victory comes after 19 matches, including Tests, ODIs, and T20s when Bangladesh failed to score a victory against the South Africa team. The Bangladesh team moved into the 2nd match of the 3-match series with an advantage of 1-0.

Shakib Hasan played a key role in the 38 run victory of Bangladesh scoring 77 runs off 64 balls. His superb innings was ably supported by half-centuries from Liton Das and Yasir Ali Chowdhuri helping Bangladesh score 314 for 7 which is its highest ODI score on South African soil. consecutive 50 of Liton Das

Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj took two wickets for South Africa.

Rassie van der Dussen scored 86 off 98 balls and David Miller hit 79 to put up a good fight to the massive Bangladesh score.

Complementing the superb performance of Bangladesh batters, the bowlers also performed well to dismiss the Proteas at 276 in 48.3 overs. Mehdi Hasan Miraz took 4 wickets conceding 61 runs while Taskin Ahmed scalped 3 for 36.

The second match of the series will be played on Sunday in Johannesburg, with the third and final ODI back at Centurion on Wednesday 23 March.
