Two Indian-origin young cricketers - Aryan Sharma from Victoria and Yash Deshmukh from New South Wales - have been named in Australia’s U19 men’s squad for the series against India. The tour will have three 50-over matches and two four-day games in Brisbane and Mackay from 21 September to 10 October.
Cricket Australia’s youth selection panel, along with state talent managers, picked the 15-player squad. The series is part of CA’s plan to develop young players and give them experience in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
It is also preparation for the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup in 2026, which will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia. So far, the two-year cycle has included a camp at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, a tour to India, and a special spin and batting camp in India.
This will be the first series for former Australian head coach Tim Nielsen in charge of the U19 squad. His experience at the top level is expected to help guide the team.
After the series, players will return to their
states for the domestic season. The National Under-19 Male Championships in December will decide the final squad for the 2026 U19 World Cup.
