Melbourne: India bowled out Australia for 195 on the first day of the of the 2nd Test in Melbourne. Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker, returning with the figures of 4/56. Raivichandran Ashwin (3/35) and debutant Mohammad Siraj (2/40) were also among wickets. 

For Australia, Marnus Labuschagne top-scored with 48 on a pitch offering the bowlers both bounce and spin. In the first session, Ashwin dismissed Steve Smith for a duck after getting Matthew Wade for 30. Bumrah had struck early to remove Australia opener Joe Burns for a duck after the host captain Tim Paine won the toss and opted to bat first.
