India's legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar has smashed a hundred on his Ranji Trophy debut. The all-rounder featured for the Goa side and hit the ton against Rajasthan. Meanwhile, he has matched the record of his father Sachin Tendulkar.

35 years before, the Senior Tendulkar had hit a century on his Ranji Trophy debut, which is now matched by Arjun. The Jr. Tendulkar smashed a ton in 177 balls when he came out to bat at No.7. He got caught and bowled by Kamlesh Nagarkoti on 120 when Goa were on 422. Notably, Tendulkar was with Mumbai in the previous season but did not play a game for them. He moved to Goa after getting a NOC from Mumbai Cricket Association.

SRT Sports Management company stated in its statement, “Getting maximum game time on the ground is important for Arjun at this juncture of his career. We believe that the shift will

improve the probability of Arjun featuring in more competitive matches. He is embarking on a new phase of his cricketing career.”

Arjun came out to bat at 7 on day 1 of the match when the team was at 201/5. He stitched a 200-run partnership with Suyash Prabhudessai. When day 1 ended, Goa went back at the score of 210/5.

Before the ongoing season of the Ranji trophy began, Sachin went to Goa to meet Arjun. The Jr. Tendulkar has played for the Goa side in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has scalped 8 wickets in the List A format while he has 12 wickets in the T20 format. Tendulkar also made it into the Indian U-19 team and then into the IPL side Mumbai Indians. The all-rounder is yet to feature in a match for his IPL franchise but he has been retained by MI ahead of the mini auctions for IPL 2023. The auctions will take place on December 23, 2022, in Kochi.
