Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has tested positive for Covid-19 hours ahead of the opening match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, starting January 27 in Karachi. Afridi was all set to play for his 4th franchise in the PSL, the Quetta Gladiators.

Shahid Afridi, 41, will do quarantine at home, following the protocols put in place by the Pakistan Cricket Board. He will be reintegrated



to the Quetta Gladiators squad after the completion of the quarantine period and a negative RT-PCR test, the PSL team said in a statement.

The PSL 2022 will be played from January 27 to February 27 across two cities - Karachi and Lahore - in Pakistan. Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans will be in action in the opening match on Thursday while Afridi's Gladiators will take on Peshawar Zalmi on Friday.
