Abrar Ahmed is all set to play for Islamabad United in the 2023 edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The leg-spinner was a part of the Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi, but it will be his first PSL stint in three years.

Abrar reaped the rewards of his splendid performance on his debut against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Although Pakistan finished on the losing side, Abrar hogged the headlines after he picked up as many as 11 wickets in the match.

Abrar also equalled fast bowler Mohammad Zahid’s record of most wickets by a Pakistan bowler on his Test

debut, which was set way back in 1996.

Abrar got a seven-wicket haul in the first innings. In fact, he picked up the first seven English wickets to fall and looked good to pick up all 10. However, the leg-spinner Zahid Mahmood picked up the last three wickets.

Abrar also broke a 15-year-old record of most wickets by a Pakistan spinner on Test debut. Left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman made the record way back in 2007.

In Pakistan’s second innings, Abrar also threw his bat around to play a handy cameo down the order, but his efforts couldn’t pay dividends.
