Olympic champion Carolina Marin marched into her third back-to-back finals on Saturday with a clinical 21-13, 21-13 win over Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong.

The Spaniard won the previous two titles in Thailand in the last two weeks and will be gunning for her third on Sunday when she faces the World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying.

But she admitted that the back-to-back tournaments was hard on the body and said that she will prepare as well as she can for Sunday’s match.

“Three tournaments in a row is tough,” said the fifth-seeded player. “But I am looking forward to tomorrow... I’m really happy to play and give my best tomorrow and

enjoy one more game.”

The delayed 2020 season finale, which began Wednesday, is the third tournament behind closed doors in three weeks in Bangkok, as badminton resumes after months of coronavirus cancellations.

Marin on Saturday dispatched Chochuwong who surprised everyone with her wins over higher-ranked Ratchanok Intanon, and top-ranked Tai Tzu Ying. She lost to PV Sindhu in her final group match on Friday, but still marched into the semi-final based on her consecutive wins before that.

Kidambi Srikanth was the only other Indian in the fray, but he lost all three of his group matches and failed to qualify for the semi-final spot.
