In Wimbledon Tennis Championships, world number one and local favourites Andy Murray began his title defence successfully yesterday. Murray defeated Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in a straight set in Men's Singles. Rafael Nadal and Kei Nishikori also won in straight sets to enter the second round. Nadal registered his win against Australia’s John Millman. 

In women's singles, world number two Simona Halep and Venus Williams sailed past round one with easy victories. Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova enter to



the second round after beating Johanna Larsson 6-3 6-4. 

British number one Johanna Konta also won the first round as she beat Chinese Taipei's Hsieh Su-Wei in.

Defending women's champion Serena Williams is not taking part in the tournament. Sania Mirza and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan will play treir doubles tomorrow while Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna among the other Indians taking part in the Doubles and will begin their campaigns later in the tournament.
