India's PV Sindhu, B Sai Praneeth, Parupalli Kashyap, HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the quarterfinals of the India Open tournament. 

In the pre-quarterfinals in New Delhi yesterday, Sindhu defeated Deng Joy Xuan of Hong Kong 21-11, 21-13 in women's singles. 

In the men's singles, Praneeth eked out a thrilling come-from-behind 18-21, 21-16, 21-15 win over fifth-seeded



compatriot Sameer Verma.

Kashyap dished out a superb game to beat Thailand's Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk 21-11, 21-13.

Prannoy defeated Jorgensen of Denmark 21-19, 20-22, 21-17.

Kidambi Srikanth beat Guangzu Lu of China 21-11, 21-16.

However, Subhankar Dey lost to Wang Tzu-wei of Taiwan.
