British sensation Emma Raducanu beat Belinda Bencic to reach semi-finals of US Open

New York: In tennis, 18-year-old British sensation Emma Raducanu reached the US Open women’s semi-finals after beating Tokyo Olympic champion Swiss Belinda Bencic 6-3, 6-4 in New York last night. World No. 150, will now play 17th seed Greek Maria Sakkari in the semi final. Sakkari beat Karolína Plisková 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter final.

In the other semifinal, 19-year Canadian Leylah Fernandez will meet No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus.

In men’s singles, Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev has



entered the semifinals defeating unseeded Lloyd Harris of South Africa in straight sets. Extending his winning streak to 16 matches, no.4-seeded German Zverev will face the winner of the today’s quarter-final between World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and World No. 8 Matteo Berrettini.

Earlier, World number two Daniil Medvedev advanced to semi-final, eliminating 117th-ranked Dutch qualifier Botic Van de Zandschulp. He will meet Canadian 12th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last four.
