Notification for fifth phase of assembly poll issued in UP

Notification for the fifth phase of Assembly elections will be issued on Thursday. A total of 52 segments spread across 12 districts, including Amethi and Rae Bareli, will go to polls in this phase on February 27.

UP Chief Electoral Officer T Venkatesh said in Lucknow on Wednesday that notification for the fifth phase would be issued on Thursday morning after which the process of filing nominations would begin.  The last date for nomination will be February 9 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination would be February 13.A total of 1.84 crore voters will exercise their franchise at 12,791 polling stations and 19,167 polling booths in the fifth phase. 

The 12 districts going to polls in the fifth phase are Sultanpur, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Ambedkarnagar, Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda,



Siddarthnagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Faizabad.

The fifth phase of polling would be held in following assembly seats : Tiloi, Jagdishpur, Gauriganj, Amethi, Isauli, Sultanpur, Sultanpur Sadar, Lambhua, Kadipur, Rudauli, Milkipur, Bikapur, Ayodhya, Gosainganj, Katheri, Tanda, Alapur, Jalalpur, Akbarpur, Balha, Nanpara, Matera, Mahsi, Bahriach, Payagpur, Kaiserganj, Bhinga, Shravasti, Tulsipur, Gasari, Utraula, Balrampur, Mehnaun, Gonda, Katra Bazaar, Karnalganj, Tarabganj, Mankapur, Gaura, Shohratgarh, Kapilvastu, Bansi, Itwa, Dumariyaganj, Haraiyya, Kaptanganj, Rudauli, Basti Sadar, Mahadeva, Mehdaval, Khalilabad and Ghanghata.

Notification for the sixth phase in 49 Assembly segments would be issued on February 7 and that of the seventh and last phase for 40 seats on February 9.
