Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah said that the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in Manipur is not an election between BJP and Congress. It is an election between forces trying to break Manipur and those keeping it united.

Addressing an election rally in Imphal on Monday afternoon, the BJP leader said that the development of North East India is the priority of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the future of India will be better when the North East State is fully developed.

Terming the era of Congress regime in Manipur as Fake Encounter and dark days, Mr Shah said that many ethnic clashes happened during the regime of Congress in Manipur and many lives were lost.

Indicating that the ongoing violence in Manipur started because of the infiltrators who tried to change the demography of Manipur, BJP leader Amit Shah said that the BJP party will not allow anyone to break Manipur. The border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar is undergoing and the Modi led BJP government suspended the Free Movement Regime with Myanmar to check the illegal infiltrators to Manipur. Mr Shah also assured the public that the Narendra Modi government will hold dialogue with all the stakeholders and bring normalcy in

Manipur soon.

The election rally was attended by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, State Education Minister and BJP candidate for Inner Lok Sabha seat of Manipur- Thounaojam Basantakumar and other BJP leaders.

It may be mentioned that six candidates including from BJP are in fray for the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat. JNU Professor- Angomcha Bimol Akoijam is contesting on an INC ticket while the National General Secretary of RPI (Athawale) Maheswar Thounaojam and three Independent candidates are also contesting for the seat.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has said that the BJP led Centre government has not been able to bring normalcy in Manipur till today despite the assurance given to the public that the government will bring peace in the State.

Speaking to a media person in Imphal last evening, the Working President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee said that the border fencing along Indo-Myanmar border was initiated by the Congress Government during 2012-13. However, it was stopped due to some disputes. He said that the BJP could not bring normalcy in Manipur and the party has indulged in blaming Congress for the violence.
