Sharad Sonawane, the sole MLA of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), resigned from the party on the ground that bullock cart races were not being allowed in the state.
Sonawane told that "I spoke about my resignation to my leader Bala Nandgaonkar, but did not meet Raj Saheb. I gave my resignation to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and sent a copy to Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar

Rao. I was deeply upset that the government was not allowing bullock cart races, and hence, I wanted to resign. So, I resigned on the important occasion of Shiv Jayanti,'' Sonawane said.
MNS, formed by Raj Thackeray had 13 MLAs. In the last election, only Sonawane was elected and Raj Thackeray had not campaigned for him. Often, Sonawane has said that he came on his own merit.
