CHENNAI:  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, AIADMK chief VK Sasikala's proxy, will today seek a trust vote in the state assembly to prove majority support from legislators to run the government. He needs the backing of at least 117 legislators in the 234-member state assembly. With two more MLAs leaving Team Sasikala, Mr Palaniswami has the support of 122, excluding the Speaker.  Mr Palaniswami

took oath as the Chief Minister on Thursday with a 30-member cabinet. O Panneerselvam, who currently has 11 MLAs with him, had also staked claim to form government in a meeting with Governor C Vidyasagar Rao earlier this week, but could not gather enough support.
