World Health Organization WHO chief warned that a mix of low vaccination coverage and low testing rates are creating fertile breeding ground for new Covid variants. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has also said that blanket travel bans will not prevent the spread of Omicron variant of coronavirus and they place a heavy burden on lives and livelihoods.

briefing yesterday the WHO chief said, the Omicron has been confirmed in 23 countries and their number is expected to rise.  

Mr. Tedros said, WHO is learning more about Omicron, but there's still more to learn about its effect on transmission, the severity of disease, and the effectiveness of tests, therapeutics, and vaccines.
