Hyderabad, February 26, 2015 : Swine flu cases continued to mount in Telangana, where three fresh fatalities have been reported, while 27 more patients tested positive for the deadly disease. After the latest deaths, the toll has risen to 54 since January this year, the State Government said today.

"From January 1, 2015 to  till February 24, 2015 , 4,242 samples have been tested, of which 1,352 found to be positive and the number of deaths because of swine flu and other complications risen at 54," a Government bulletin on the disease said

The bulletin said 146 samples were tested yesterday and 27 found positive for the H1N1 virus, it said. The bulletin issued yesterday put the number of deaths "as on date" at 51. The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (upto February 24) is showing a decline in intensity, the latest statement said.

Citizens are advised to take precautions like reporting to the hospital on appearance of first symptoms of the respiratory illness like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pains, it said.
