Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandavia said the Centre will roll out the “One Nation, One Dialysis” programme to help patients undergoing dialysis get the procedure done anywhere in the country at any time. Dr Mansukh Mandaviya participated in the cycle rally organised by the National Health Mission on the iconic Marina Beach yesterday. Later, he inspected the Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super Specialty Hospital in the city.

He inspected the robotic surgery facility and the early pregnancy anomalies screening centre in the hospital. He also laid the foundation stone for the Central Government Health Scheme wellness centre at Avadi, a Chennai suburb, through video conferencing.

During his interaction with the central and state health officials, the minister said the Centre is aiming at making the nation malaria-free by the year 2030. Dr Mansukh Mandaviya said the Centre has allocated 3004-crore rupees to Tamil Nadu under the National Health Mission and the PM Ayushman



Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. 

He lauded Tamil Nadu for covering 94 per cent of the people with the first dose of Covid vaccines and 82 per cent with the second dose. He said 75 lakh people from 1.58 crore families in the state have benefited from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

The Health Minister also visited the Indian Council for Medical Research laboratory called the National Institute of Research in Tuberculosis in Chennai. 

He said around fifty thousand people suffer from the disease in the state, and added that the TB patient/village adoption scheme called Nikshay Mitr Abhiyan has evoked only partial response. He appealed to all to join hands to overcome TB which he said is a hurdle against the nation’s progress. He congratulated the state for achieving the goals set for the Maternal Mortality Rate and the Infant Mortality Rate well ahead of several other states.
