Mumbai reports 5,428 new Coronavirus cases

Mumbai: Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary of Health Pradeep Vyas has said the people should not underestimate the threat of the third wave and Omicron variant to be mild and less fatal and should not lower their guard. He said that it is equally fatal for those who are not vaccinated and have comorbidities. He has appealed the people to take vaccines as soon as possible.

He said that based on the current trend of rising COVID cases in the state, it is expected that there might be around 2



lakh active cases by the 3rd week of January 2022.

Separate instructions are issued for managing these numbers, in case some of them need hospitalization. Meanwhile, steep rise of 47 percent was seen in Covid cases in Mumbai with 5428 new cases in a single day yesterday.

Maharashtra has more than 24 thousand 509 active cases which includes more than 50 percent cases in Mumbai with 16 thousand 441 active cases.
