Mumbai: In not much of a change in the Covid-19 situation in Maharashtra, the infections remained at a relatively low tally of 10,989 for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, while the deaths dropped marginally to 661 in the State.

A day after it logged 10,891 infections and 702 deaths, the new daily deaths increased marginally to 10,989, while the daily deaths dropped by 41 to touch a figure of 661.

With 661 reported deaths, the total number of deaths rose from  1,01,172 to 1,01,833. Similarly, with 10,989 fresh infections, the total number

of cases went up from 58,52,891 to 58,63,880.

As 16,379 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the State after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 55,80,925 to 55,97,304. The recovery rate in the state rose from 95.35 per cent to 95.45 per cent.

The total “active cases” in the state dropped 1,67,927 to 1,61,864. The fatality rate in the State rose from 1.73 per cent to 1.74 per



cent.

Mumbai logged 27 deaths and 785 infections. The infections in the city remained below 1,000 level in the country’s commercial capital for the 11th consecutive day. 

With fresh deaths and infections, the Covid-19 toll in Mumbai increased from   15,006 to 15,033, while the infected cases went up from 7,12,055 to 7,12,840.

Pune with 19275 cases continued to be remain first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Mumbai with 17,939 stood second, followed by Kolhapour (17822), Thane (16,076), Satara (11,232), Sangli (9855), Nagpur (7124), Ahmednagar (5473), Ratnagiri (6252), Sindhudurg (5987),   Nashik (4940), Solapur (4672) and  Raigad (4755).

Of the 3,71,347 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 58,63,880 have tested positive (15.79 per cent) for COVID-19 until Wednesday

Currently, 11,35,347 people are in home quarantine while 6494 people are in institutional quarantine.
